Disco and DJ Booking Tips

Questions to ask

Here we cover questions to ask, and what to consider when booking a Mobile Disc Jockey for your event.

What kind of venues and functions have they undertaken?

A pub DJ is very different to a personality DJ who interacts with the crowd to promote a party atmosphere and can undertake many different events. If you have any special requests we will endeavor to meet your requirements and pride ourselves on our customer service.

Do they have Public Liability Insurance and fully PAT tested equipment?

It is vital that these are both held, without these the client has little cover or reassurance if an accident were to occur. We currently hold £10million PLI through NADJ and our equipment is fully PAT tested also. We carry our certificates with us to produce at the venue. Some venues will insist that they see this before a disco can setup their equipment, by law PLI is a requirement .

Do they have the MCPS ProDub License?

From August 2008 DJ’s that play music from a laptop or media player that has copied music from a legitimate CD needs to hold the MCPS ProDub license which ensures the artists received their royalties for the music they have produced.  Boogie-Nite holds the appropriate ProDub License

What’s the price?

The cheapest disco certainly isn’t going to be the best value for money. Then again the most expensive may just be overpriced, but as the old saying goes, you get what you pay for.

If you go for the cheaper option the chances are that the equipment, presentation and music selection wont be impressive. Moreover, what will your friends and family be talking about months after the event, what the food was like? or the cheap DJ that ruined the party? (only because you thought you were saving a few pounds).

Is the equipment in good condition?

All of our equipment is regularly inspected to ensure it is in good working condition so that there isn’t any bad experiences for our customers.

Is it high quality and maintained that way?

We only use professional, high quality equipment. With continual investment in our equipment to help make your event as enjoyable as possible.

Do they have a good enough sound system for your hall?

Again, with our investment into equipment we can guarantee that the music will be crystal clear with the volume suited to the mood and venue. Most notably the PA system we have is one of the highest quality around and is tailored to suit from the smaller venues, upto the largest of venues.

Do they provide a written contract setting down what will be provided?

A written contract is very important. There are alot of ‘Cowboy DJ’s’ out there and quite often if they are offered more money else where they will go and do that since they just take bookings by word of mouth! Ensure you book a reputable company. Boogie-Nite is a member of the Nation Association of Disc Jockeys and adheres to the code of conduct.

Consultations are available if you would like to discuss your needs, worries and requirements for your event. Remember we want your event to run smoothly and be a success and are here to help with planning and executing your event.
